Christmas in Mississippi and a Happy New Year

For the past few years we have stayed in Texas for Christmas, but it was fun to be in Mississippi this year!  We squeezed in A LOT in the four days that we were there: presents, playing, trips to Oxford and Vicksburg, and time with family!

Natalie, Caroline and Luke played so well all week!  They are at a very fun age

Present chaos

Luke loves Brinkley!

James spent most of his time either on the ipad or playing legos.  He did make up a scavenger hunt, which we  all participated in and only one of us (me!) didn't cheat

We always love a trip to the fireworks stand!

Trip to Oxford and Vicksburg

Fun dinner at Tiko's with Eric, Mariclaire, Jimmy and Anna

We got back to Houston just in time for New Year's Eve dinner with friends!

2016 has been a great year!!  Here's to 2017!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from the Nixes!

Santa was so fun this year!  We have a rule at our house: Santa brings three gifts (to reinforce the true meaning of Christmas AND to try and contain the chaos).  James got an ipad, the game Guess Who and a Star Wars origami book--it looks small, but was a huge hit!  James has asked for an ipad for about two/three years, so he was so excited to see it Christmas morning.  He kept saying he felt like he was dreaming b/c he couldn't believe he actually had an ipad.

Natalie received a dollhouse, a hula hoop and these bead things that you iron.

Luke only asked for one thing: Legos (Lego Yoda, Lego Batman, Lego helicopter, etc.).  Santa wanted to broaden his interests and thought a Thomas the Train table would be a good idea......Luke has yet to warm to the gift.  (He also received Legos and a Lego helicopter set).  He played with it briefly, but has spent more time playing dollhouse with Natalie

Luke's reaction to the train table

He even preferred a box with "pop pop" to the train table

After a morning of playing, unwrapping and playing some more, he loaded up in the new car (Suburban, which was a life saver on this trip) and headed to MS!

Outtakes from Christmas Eve mass:  (Mom made James a bow tie out of the same fabric as Luke's pants, and she mailed it the Monday before Christmas.  I was convinced it had been lost in the mail b/c at Christmas Eve we still didn't have a bow tie--or a back up outfit.  Well, we had planned to attend 3:00 Christmas Eve mass, but for some reason we couldn't get it together.  So as we were loading up to go to 5:30 mass, Brad picked up the package that was just delivered, and it contained the bow tie!)
